Franco Piavoli was born in Pozzolengo in 1933. He succeeded in reaching his degree in law. He practised as lawyer just for few years. He produced his first filming (Stagioni 1961), after that he left the jurisprudence in order to teach law in technical institute of the area and the same time he could dedicate to the filming.
Just only doing other documentaries ( Domenica Sera, Emigranti, Evasi) he came to the lime light in 1982 when he presented the film “ Il pianeta Azzurro”. This film was admitted to the famous Venetian Festival.
This realisation was enabled thanks to the encouragement of a Franco Piavoli ‘ s friend Silvano Agosti. There is anecdote dated back 1979 which was revealed by Piavoli only years later. It seemed to be that Mister Agosti visited Franco Piavoli and brought with him a camera Suddenly he said to him that it was time to realise his first long filming. Up to this moment Franco Piavoli worked at his new film for whole year.
In the following years, he realised others three filming (Nostos il ritorno 1989, Voci nel tempo, 1996 Al primo soffio di vento 2002)
Most of Franco Piavoli’s films he put the evidence on the images instead of the words in fact his way of filming based on the images , as result, there are not many words, pronounced by the protagonists. This style reveals a real passion for the photography, all these elements are supposed to be in connection to his friendship with Ugo Mulas.
